Baroqitec: Growing up in Texas, I've been captivated by the allure of Spanish architecture. I wanted to utilize this project to show the beauty of the Spanish-style architecture and the different variations within it. The structures bring life into the community that surrounds me, and are rich with history and visual appeal. My artwork delves into the intricate qualities of Spanish architecture, specifically Baroque and Colonial Revival. By integrating my local environment and the heritage sites of the Alamo and Mcnay Mansion, I use photography to showcase the fascinating similarities and subtle differences in architectural characteristics. In my vision is the desire to unify my pieces with a tactile quality of a book. By invoking the sensory dimension of touch to further engage the viewer. While navigating my project I encountered some challenges, one of which was mastering the balance between light and shadow and capturing the perfect amount in architectural photography. In this project I learned how to combine multiple images to fix overexposed parts of a picture so that with each picture the perfect amount of exposure from each angle of the space has a good amount of lighting throughout.
