Ashley M.

Growing up being Black and Chinese, I constantly questioned my identity and where I found my belonging.

My pieces allow me to explore my character, create art to communicate my authentic self through my imagination, and create compelling pieces that tell my autobiography through paints and color. Growing up being Black and Chinese, I constantly questioned my identity and where I found my belonging. The theme of self-portraits in my paintings depicts fragments of my experiences in America while growing up biracial and highlighting the political issues of society today.
