I like engineering and design. I like bringing things into the world to fill a void of form or function. I make small, singular objects, I really enjoy coming up with their, you could say, backstory. What it is, what its used for, what the innards look like, how big it is, who uses it & where, who makes it, and such. I like trying to put in little hints to these questions, to kind of give the viewer an idea of where it would be in a full setting, rather than floating in a print. Across everything I do, independent of how many “hints” I try to come up with and insert into the object, I have a similar stance when getting down to the nitty gritty, the pipes and bolts. Where does this pipe go? What Is it for? What does it connect? What does this bolt hold? How far does it go? How old is it, and how well is it doing? It doesn’t need to be perfect, obviously. I am, at the end of the day, making art. It isn’t a perfect representation of reality, but I like being able to just choose a little part of the object, and maybe figure out a little bit of Its “daily life” by looking around at what it’s interacting with or what path it follows.
