The central idea of my capstone is to explore important events and experiences of my generation through a connection to song lyrics by using media such as charcoal, ballpoint pen, acrylic paint, and colored pencil.  I worked to illustrate themes that are a snapshot of my generation’s experiences growing up in the world and connected them to songs. I have always seen a great value in the power music and song lyrics can hold; they can influence an individual to feel certain emotions, whether it be pure joy or painful sadness.  Humanity is an emotional group, but that is what makes the world complete and beautiful, which is ultimately what I have tried to capture through the snapshots of experiences I have drawn together. Even though we experience difficult events and moments throughout our lives, there is still beauty in the feelings that we face, and art is my favorite attempt at trying to depict the complexity in that beauty.
